Dorothy Beale Seward, 66, a resident of Elberon, died Thursday, Feb. 8, 1996, at Riverside Convalescent Center in Newport News. She was born in Waverly, the daughter of the late Willie A. and Edna Harvell Beale. She was a member of Surry Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, E. Baxter Seward; two daughters, Dyanne S. Brantley of Wakefield and Nancy S. Layden of Smithfield; three sons, Elton B. Seward Jr. of Elberon, Michael A. Seward of Smithfield and Jeffrey A. Seward of Elberon; two sisters, Evelyn B. Crenshaw of Richmond and Faye B. Worrell of Wakefield; three brothers, Cecil L. ``Buck'' Beale, Albert W. ``Pete'' Beale and Jack Beale, all of Waverly; 12 grandchildren, Jason P.H. Brantley, Matthew A. Brantley, Melissa F. Brantley, David L. Johnson IV, Michelle L. Johnson, Jonathan B. Seward, Elizabeth W. Seward, Catharine E. Seward, Mary Beth Seward, Brenton A. Seward, Brooke H. Seward and Taylor A. Seward.
Funeral services will be held at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Saturday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Paul Harfst, Dr. Donald Jones, and the Rev. Nancy Hayes. Burial will be in Moore's Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery in Elberon. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad.
