JOHN B. BEAMAN JR.

John Branch Beaman Jr., 86, of the 800 block of W. Church St., died Thursday, Feb. 8, 1996.

Mr. Beaman was a native of Bertie County. The son of the late John Branch Sr. and Mrs. Sallie Dunning Beaman, he was a retired businessman. He had held various business interests including the lumber industry, boat manufacturing, research and development of new products, mineral and gem import and distribution, and real estate development. He was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Gatling Beaman; two sons, J.B. Beaman III and his wife, Betty, of Ahoskie and Grafton G. Beaman of Elizabeth City; five sisters, Elizabeth B. Saunders and Ellen B. Beamon, both of Norfolk, Sarah Lee White of Ennis, Texas, Jessie B. Fischer of Chesapeake and Anne B. Reams of Saskatchawan, Canada; three brothers, Thomas G. Beaman of Salem, Va., Robert D. Beaman and Winfield S. Beaman, both of Norfolk.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Gatesville Cemetery by the Rev. Phillip R. Glick. Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, is handling the arrangements. Following the service, friends may join the family in St. Mary's Episcopal Church Parish House in Gatesville and at all other times at the residence. The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 424 W. Church St., Ahoskie, N.C. 27910, or the Ahoskie Rescue Squad, 901 W. First St., Ahoskie, N.C. 27910.
