POLICE APPRECIATION

Two Norfolk police officers recently faced life-threatening danger while performing their sworn duty to protect the citizens of Norfolk. Officer Larry E. Bobbitt was attacked by a felon who beat him in the head with a two-by-four. Before losing consciousness, Officer Bobbitt was able to discharge his firearm, fatally wounding the attacker.

Officer Chris R. Amos while on bike patrol observed a drug deal. Upon trying to arrest the criminals, one suspect ran while firing a gun at the officer, hitting him in the chest and leg. Officer Amos returned fire as he was falling to the ground. The suspect was fatally wounded by the officer's shots. It was only because Officer Amos was wearing his bullet-proof vest that he is alive today.

We of the Fraternal Order of Police Associates would like it known by all persons that the bravery of and the sacrifices made by these two officers are deeply appreciated.
