Samuel R. Bowen Sr., 75, of the 1000 block of White Pine Drive, died Feb. 8, 1996.
Mr. Bowen, a retired civil service operating engineer, worked for Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a native of Cherry, N.C., and a member of Parkview Baptist Church, Portsmouth.
He is survived by Julia Bowen, his wife for 23 years; a daughter, Diane Marshall of Cazanova, Wis.; two sons, Donald M. Bowen of Corolla, N.C., and Samuel R. Bowen Jr. of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will be at 1009 White Pine Drive, Chesapeake. Snellings Funeral Home, George Washington Highway Chapel, is in charge.
