Bertram B. Wells, 72, of the 5900 block of Jerry Road, died Feb. 9, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Wells, a painter, worked for Little Creek Amphibious Base. He was also a self-employed painter for 17 years. He was a native of Edgecombe County, N.C., and a member of Riverside Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army diabled American veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy B. Wells; a son, Michael B. Wells of Chesapeake; three sisters, Maggie Lee ``Sissy'' Hopkins of Tarboro, N.C., Fannie Batchlor of Tarboro, Doris Moss of Rocky Mount, N.C.; a brother, Robert L. Wells of Rocky Mount; two grandsons, Scott Wells and Michael Wells Marlar; three step-granddaughters, Casey Netz, Casey Gamble and Lauren Gamble; and a step-great-granddaughter, Ashleigh West.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, by the Rev. Herbert Holton. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospice Group, Koger Center, Norfolk.
