Arthur Roscoe Barton, 81, of the 100 block of Marion Drive, died Friday Feb. 9, 1996, at his residence.
Mr. Barton was born in Cooleemee, N.C., and was the son of the late Oscar Roscoe and Cora Wagner Barton. He was a retired self-employed construction contractor. He was a member of Lindale Church of Christ. He was Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Robert Graham, Chapter 26, of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion, Great Bridge Post 280.
Survivors include his wife, Ronnie Coleman Barton; three daughters, Joy B. High of Chesapeake, Jeanette Woodall and Wanda B. Jordan, both of Atlanta; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. David Vaughan. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
