Carrie W. ``Ma-Kell'' Kellam, 94, of the 1400 block of Thornton Road, a retired hairdresser, died Feb. 11, 1996, in Virginia Beach.
Mrs. Kellam was born in Columbia, N.C., and was the widow of C. Kellam. She was a Baptist and was retired from Jean's Beauty Salon in Norfolk. Mrs. Kellam was the mother of the late NASCAR grand champion Joe Weatherly.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Dora Hanna of Portsmouth; a son-in-law, Harry Carawan Sr. of Virginia Beach; a sister, Elva DeHart of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Carawan.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Forest Lawn Cemetery by the Rev. Paul D. Moore. The family will be at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, from 7 to 8 p.m. today. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Ocean Park Rescue Squad.
