Henry O'Berry Scott, 80, died Feb. 12, 1996, in Greensville Memorial Hospital, Emporia.
A native of Southampton County, he was the son of the late Henry O. and Flora Yates Scott. Mr. Scott was a retired store clerk. He served in the CCC during the 1930's and was also in the U.S. Army with the 56th Nansemond Ordnance Company (Amm) in Churchland, Va. He had been in the Army Reserve and was a member of Courtland Baptist Church, Manry Hunt Club, and the American Legion.
Surviving are a son, Henry O'Berry Scott Jr.; granddaughter, Paula Marx; and two great-grandsons, all of Suffolk. He is also survived by three sisters, Hazel S. Futrell of Capron and Mildred S. Ward and Jennie S. Grissom of Courtland; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Riverside Cemetery by Dr. Gary Powell. The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Mildred Ward, 23355 Linden St., in Courtland. Wright Funeral Home, Franklin, is in charge of the arrangements.
