Hazel M. Sawyer, 79, died Feb. 11, 1996, in her residence.
She was a native of High Point, N.C.
She is survived by her daughter, Glenda L. Sumner of Virginia Beach; four half-sisters, Catherine Duffy of Clemons, N.C., Hulda Whaley of Jacksonville, N.C., Margaret Yarbourough of High Point, N.C., and Delores Taylor of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Sanford Von Cannon of High Point, N.C.; and a half-brother, Thurman Von Cannon of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two granddaughters, Donah Dehaven of Lahanai, Hawaii, and Angela Hatch of Chesapeake; and two great-grandchildren, Jessika Hatch and Matthew Hatch.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday by the Rev. Paul D. Moore in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel. Burial will be Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
