Jim Ducibella of The Virginian-Pilot has been elected sports writer of the year for the state of Virginia by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.
Ducibella previously won the award in 1984, '85, '86 and '88. His primary beat is the Washington Redskins. He also does general assignment work and has covered the Hampton Roads Admirals since early this year.
