GEORGE W. SLOANE

George W. Sloane, 68, formerly a longtime resident of Virginia Beach, died at his home in Middleburg, Fla., on Jan. 10, 1996.

He was commander of V.F.W. Post (NU)8255 in Middleburg at the time of his death. He was active with the Elks Lodge and the Lions Club here locally. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, having served 33 years in the Navy, from which he retired in 1977.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Sloane; his children, George W. Sloane Jr., Janet L. Longobucco of Florida, Scott E. Eastman of Oregon, Robin F. Sloane, Mark A. Eastman, Susan R. Keel, Andrew J. Eastman, Heather M. Ham of Virginia; a brother; five grandchildren; two aunts, an uncle; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery on Friday Feb. 16, 1996.
