George Edward Wood Sr., 68, of the 2700 block of Ike St., died Feb. 12, 1996, in his residence.
Mr. Wood worked for the U.S. Government in the civil service. He was a native of Virginia Beach and a member of Providence Baptist Church, Virginia Beach. He retired from U.S. Navy where he honorably served his country in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Francis Ruth Wood; a daughter, Francas Marcella Wood of Maryland; five sons, George E. Wood Jr. and Robert W. Wood, both of Florida, Joseph R. Wood of Chesapeake, William A. Wood Sr., David A. Wood, both of Virginia Beach; a sister, Margaret W. Hayden of Oklahoma; and 13 grandchildren, Andrea Johnson, Howard Knight III, William Wood Jr., Elizabeth Wood, Andrea Wood, Julianna Wood, Keith Wood, Richard Wood, Jessica Wood, Crystal Wood, Jason Wood, Courtney Wood, David Wood Jr.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Rosewood Memorial Park, Virginia Beach by Pastor Creed and Pastor Bradshaw. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today. Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, Virginia Beach, is in charge.
