The grandmother of a 5-month-old boy whose kidney was removed Thursday has set up a trust fund to help his parents pay the medical expenses.
Christopher Santoro, whose father, Joseph, works at Petrozza's Deli in Kill Devil Hills, is at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk recovering from surgery.
Doctors found a malignant tumor in the infant's kidney last week and had to remove that - plus part of his liver.
``Both parents have had to miss work to stay up there with him,'' said Marie Santoro, the baby's grandmother. ``They really need some help with the hospital bills.''
Donations can be made in person to the Christopher Santoro account at any Outer Banks Centura Bank. Checks should be mailed to the account at: Centura Bank, P.O. Box 551, Kitty Hawk, N.C., 27949. by CNB
