Norfolk Academy's Angela Hucles, The Virginian-Pilot's two-time girls soccer player of the year, has signed a letter-of-intent with the University of Virginia.
Hucles, who joined the Bulldogs' varsity as a seventh-grader, is South Hampton Roads' all-time leading scorer with 152 goals. She scored a career-high 47 goals last season and 45 the previous season.
Hucles made official visits to U.Va., William and Mary and Florida.
``I basically looked at the whole package each of the schools were offering in academics, soccer, social life and picked the one that was best for me,'' she said.
Virginia finished 10th and 11th in the two national polls last fall. The Cavaliers have since signed a new coach, April Heinrichs from Maryland. Bulldogs' coach Kevin Sims said Hucles is under consideration for selection to PARADE magazine's All-American team. ILLUSTRATION: Angela Hucles, who has 152 career goals for Norfolk Academy,
