A. LANSON GRANGER JR.

The Rev. A. Lanson Granger Jr., 81, a Norfolk native, died Feb. 14, 1996, at a Fountain Valley California hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Granger, a graduate of Maury High School, Elon College, and Yale Divinity School, organized United Church of Christ Churches in Asheboro, N.C., Warwick, Va., and Garden Grove, Calif., and also held pastorates in Newport News and Sayville, Long Island, N.Y. He moved to southern California in 1962, where he became disabled by multiple sclerosis a few years later and retired in 1969.

Survivors include his wife, the former Frances Foster of Greensboro, N.C.; two sons, Donald, a Garden Grove psychologist, and John Larry, music director of the Santa Cruz, Calif. Symphony; a daughter, Mrs. Maryann G. Klar of Fountain Valley; a sister, Mrs. Virginia G. Sieloff of Virginia Beach; a brother, Julian F. Granger of Virginia Beach; and two grandsons.

A memorial service will be held at the Community Church, Congregational, in Corona Del Mar in early March. The family requested that memorial contributions be sent to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Orange County, Calif., Chapter, 17752 Mitchell, Irvine, Calif. 92626.
