Helen A. Parker, 83, died Feb. 15, 1996.
She was a member of Emmanuel AME Church, Portsmouth and was a member of the Missionary Society, Optimistic Club, Cavalier Manor Garden Club, and Silver Strand Senior Cititzen Club.
She is survived by daughter, Shirley Mae Parker McDowell of Portsmouth; two nieces, Delores Thorn of Portsmouth, Jean Elliott of Portsmouth; nephew, James Bazemore of Portsmouth; granddaughter, Freda Parker of Portsmouth; son-in-law, John McDowell Jr. of Portsmouth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. James Mason in Emmanuel A.M.E Church. Burial is in Lincoln Memorial Park. Viewing will be Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Home and from noon to 2 p.m. at the church. Family and friends will assemble at 1516 Ekstine Drive for the procession to the church.
