My husband, 12-year-old daughter and I are season-ticket holders for the Hampton Roads Admirals hockey games at Scope. We look forward to having a ``family night'' whenever the Admirals are playing at home. However, lately I have been tempted to just stay home and listen to the games on the radio.
On a recent Friday night we had people behind us who used loud vulgar language most of the night. The more they drank, the more vulgar and loud they became. The icing on the cake was when they spilled a full beer that ran down into our section, soaking my purse and binocular case which were under my seat.
The week before, my husband made the mistake of asking someone to sit down who was standing in front of us. The person refused and we were forced to get an usher to help out. The intoxicated fan then shouted vulgarities at us. I thought he was going to climb over the rail to get us. The usher stood there helplessly.
I notice many nondrinking families and children at the hockey games, and I know I can't be the only Admirals fan who has run into these alcohol-related problems. I would like to see a no-alcohol section of Scope reserved for those of us who would not like to be subjected to such behavior.
Come on Scope, give us a nonalcoholic section so we can enjoy cheering the Admirals to victory.
