Benjamin ``Buck'' Kirby Ward, 80, of 2710 Langston Drive, died at his residence Friday night, Feb. 16, 1996.
He was a retired postal clerk at the U.S. Post Office. He was a native of Wayne County and the son of the late Benjamin Kirby Ward Sr. and Minnie Stroud Ward. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, where he was active in the church choir and the Methodist Men.
Surviving are his wife, Virginia Moore Ward; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. Ben K. and Starr Minton Ward of Florence, S.C., Larry D. Ward of Norfolk; a daughter and son-in-law, Debra W. and Rick Hughes of Goldboro; five grandchildren, David Ward, Angie Ward, Karen Ward, William Hughes and Virginia Hughes.
A funeral will be held Monday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery. Dr. John Paschal and Rev. Robert Bame will officate. Family will receive friends today from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times at the residence of Rick and Debra W. Hughes, 508 Forest Hill Dr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 204 E. Chestnut St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
