Warren Thomas Greenwood Sr., 63, died Feb. 14, 1996.
Mr. Greenwood was born in Norfolk July 12, 1932. A high school graduate, he spent 26 years, from May 1952 to May 1978, in the U.S. Air Force as a general's aide and a transportation supervisor. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and was awarded a Joint Service Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and the Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters and the Korean Service Medal. After retiring from the Air Force as a master sergeant, he worked at A B Petroleum for a number of years as their area supervisor. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the AARP. Mr. Greenwood had been a resident of the Colorado Springs area since 1973.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Weinert Greenwood, whom he married March 16, 1957, in Falls City, Neb.; a daughter, Cheryl Kay Greenwood-McWhirter, of Ada, Okla.; a son, Warren Thomas Greenwood Jr., of Colorado Springs; two grandchildren; and seven sisters, Patricia Brown, Faye Boggs, Michelle Head, Cecilia Applewhite, Evelyn Drummond, Dorothy Lawrence, May Virginia Morgon. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Smith Greenwood; a brother; and a sister.
A private service for family will be held at Peterson Air Force Base Chapel. Burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo. Mountain View Mortuary, Colorado Springs in charge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the local chapter of the American Heart Association, 619 N. Nevada Ave. Colorado Springs, CO 80903.
