John Franklin Morris Jr., 60, of 12 Riverside Drive, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 1996 in Riverside Regional Medical Center.
He was a native of Hampton, living 23 years in Smithfield. Mr. Morris served four years in the United States Marine Corps and retired as a planner and estimator (pipefitter) from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Morgan Morris; a son, Robert Franklin Morris of Hampton; a grandson, Ryan Franklin Morris of Hampton; his mother-in-law, Bette L. Harris of Georgetown, De.; sister-in-law, Betty H. Joy of Newport News; a niece; and several aunts and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 7:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, Mason and Cedar Streets, Smithfield. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Peninsula Memorial Park with Masonic Rites by Bremond Masonic Lodge (NU)241 A.F.&A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Music Ministry of Trinity United Methodist Church or the Isle of Wight Rescue Squad. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
