MARGARET K. JONES

Margaret Katherine Jones, 87, died Feb. 16, 1996.

Mrs. Jones was a native of Columbus County, N.C., and was a Baptist. She attended Woman's College UNC, Greensboro, N.C., and was Chief Clerk of a Selected Service during World War II. She retired as executive assistant of Microbiological Associates, Washington, D.C., in 1973. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Vance and Matilda Maultsby Pierce, and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Willard Jones.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Paul R. Jones of Colorado Springs, Colo., Ann Owens of Charlotte, N.C., and Mrs. A.L. ``Marie'' Cowan of Hampton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be Monday at 12:30 p.m., and a memorial service will be held at The Ballentine, 7211 Granby St., Norfolk, Wednesday at 11:15 a.m. by the Rev. Carriker. Memorial contributions may be made to The Margaret Katherine Jones Memorial Fund, c/o The Ballentine, 7211 Granby St., Norfolk, 23505. Twiford Funeral Home, Ghent Chapel, is handling the arrangements.
