Mary Catherine Carty Wood, 85, died Feb. 17, 1996, in her residence.
She was a native of Norfolk and the widow of Earl L. Wood. She was the last surviving charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Branch 60. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3160.
She is survived by her daugher, Margaret W. Rossi of Virginia Beach; son, William E. Wood of Norfolk; brother, John Carty of Norfolk; four grandchildren, Mary Kathryn Rossi of Ocala, Fla., William E. Wood Jr., Earl L. Wood, and Tina Marie Jones, all of Virginia Beach; and a great-grandson, Anthony Ross Jones of Virginia Beach.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday by Father Edward L. Richardson in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will be at the Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. where a Fleet Reserve service will be conducted at 7 p.m. ILLUSTRATION: Photo
