NEW BUSINESSES

Robert Schmidt has opened the franchised business brokerage business, Sunbelt Business Brokers of Tidewater Inc. at Birdneck Executive Centre, 1206 Laskin Road, Suite 201, Virginia Beach. Schmidt is a retired Navy captain.

Carolyn Dennis has obtained a business license to operate X-Pert Keyboarding, a desktop publishing word processing service.

HONORS, AWARDS

The American Advertising Federation, Hampton Roads area, presented it Addy awards for the year. The winners were as follows:

Lanpher Productions in Norfolk received the Best of Show Addy for a photograph of Operation Blessing.

Barker Campbell & Farley in Virginia Beach received six Addys: a poster full-color for the Chrysler Museum of Art; a business/trade publication (more than half page black and white) for Mary Washington Hospital; a television ad (30 sec.) for the Chrysler Museum of Art; a regional/national business to consumer campaign for the Chrysler Museum of Art; a public service newspaper for the United Way of South Hampton Roads; and a public service-local campaign for the United Way.

McMahon Creative in Virginia Beach received four Addys for public service print materials for it agency.

McKenna & Ringer, local freelancers, received three Addys: two for business publications (less than four color); and one for collateral campaign (less than four color).

Otto Visual Arts in Norfolk received two Addys: both were brochure (four color) for Beecroft & Bull.

Mark McKenna, local freelancer, received two Addys for out of home self promotions.

Those receiving one Addy were:

Group III Communications in Norfolk for consumer magazine fractional page (four color) for the Portsmouth Convention & Visitors Bureau.

AdVentures Advertising Inc. in Virginia Beach for business/trade publications fractional page (less than four color) for The Grand Hotel.

Morris Design in Norfolk for an Ad Club self promotion.

Harrisberger Creative Ltd. in Virginia Beach for a logo-trademark design for J. Sadler Co.

Photo Craftsmen in Norfolk for a still photography color.

And, Thurman Worthington, a certified radio marketing consultant with 2WD/WWDE Radio, received the lifetime achievement Silver Medal Award.
