Evelyn Cahoon Whaley, 84, of 5461 N. Sunland Drive, formerly of Elizabeth City, died on Sunday Feb. 18, 1996, at Parson's Residential Home in Chesapeake.
Born in Tyrrell County, N.C., she was a retired registered nurse, a real estate broker, and a member of First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth City. Mrs. Whaley was the daughter of the late Wilson Edgar and Mary Frances Liverman Cahoon and the widow of Maxey Sawyer Whaley.
Mrs. Whaley is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Philip W. (Frances H.) Forehand of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Joseph P. Forehand and Julia F. Claytor, both of Virginia Beach; and five great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Twiford's Memorial Chapel, Elizabeth City, with the Rev. Bill Ruth officiating. Entombment will follow in Old Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church, Elizabeth City.
