Nathaniel Branch, of the 2900 block of Beachmont Ave., died Feb. 17, 1996.
Mr. Branch was retired from NADEP after 33 years of service. He had been retired for 20 years. He was a member of Holy Temple Church, Chesapeake, and church treasurer, chairman of the Board of Deacons and Trustees, former Sunday school superintendent, teacher of the adult Sunday school class, and member of the Men's League. He was a member of the Board Creek Civic League Inc., member of Southern District Deacons Conference, and former Boy Scout leader. He was honored by LAMP in Goldsboro, N.C.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Q. Branch; a daughter, Dr. Maxine Singleton of Virginia Beach; a son, Nathaniel Branch Jr. of Valrico, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Angeline Hankins of Rocky Point, N.C., and Sarah Dobson of Magnolia, N.C.; three brothers, John and Theodore Branch of Mt. Olive, N.C., Louis Best of Kenomsville, N.C.; four grandchildren, Daphne, Andrea, Krystal and Natalie; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Thursday at Holy Temple Church by the Rev. John Bradley III. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at the residence for the funeral procession on Thursday at 11 a.m. Donations can be made in the memory of Nathaniel Branch to Norfolk Community Hospital.
