Lyda Midyette Armstrong, formerly of Fairfield, died Sunday night Feb. 18, 1996, at Chesapeake General Hospital.
Born in Fairfield, March 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Henry Franklin and Gladys Baum Midyette. She was a graduate of the former Fairfield School and was valdictorian of her class. She was then married to Johnie Albin Armstrong, who died in 1993. She was a member of the Fairfield Chapter (NU)247, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Fairfield United Methodist Church. She was retired as postmaster of the Fairfield Post Office after many years of service.
Survivors include two sons, Edward E. Armstrong and Frank C. Armstrong, both of Manteo; a brother, Gene Midyette of Clearwater, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the family plot in Fairfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Fairfield Masonic Lodge building following the funeral. Arrangements are by Bryan Funeral Service, Swan Quarter.
