MABEL H. ELEY

Mabel Hardy Eley, 90, of Sandpit Road, died Feb. 17, 1996, in Waverly Health Care Center.

She was employed as a domestic worker and was a native of Surry County, Va. She was the widow of George C. Eley and a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Zuni, where she was a deaoness, member of the senior choir, Eastern Star, Chapter 141 Rose of Sharon.

She is survived by five daughters, Nell Roberts and Phyllis Stokes, both of Zuni, Gladys Brown of Windsor, Va., India Warren of Courtland, Va., and Marlvin Stringfield of Norfolk; three sons, George E. Eley and Ivan Eley, both of Zuni, and Alvernon Eley of Petersburg, Va.; 30 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Ida Holmes and Carter Hardy.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. today in Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Black Creek Road, by the Rev. John B. Townsell. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home of Nell Roberts, 24496, Wood Duck Road, Zuni. The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. today.
