Mary Shive, a resident at The Ballentine on Granby Street, went to be with her Lord on Monday, Feb. 19, 1996.
Miss Shive was born in Joplin, Mo., on Feb. 25, 1906. A lifelong Christian, she was one of four daughters of a Presbyterian minister, Dr. Benjamin M. Shive. She attended Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., class of 1927. She did graduate work at the Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond. She worked several years for the federal government. She was a member of Knox Presbyerian Church, where she worked for five years as church secretary.
She is survived by a nephew, Herbert M. Rice of Virginia Beach; two nieces, Gabrielle R. Jolemore of Virginia Beach and Jean B. Mobley of Davidson, N.C.; two nieces-in-law, Frankie H. Parker and Dorothy P. Ross; a newphew-in-law, Maj. Gen. Kenneth A. Jolemore; and 10 grandnieces and grandnephews.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. J. Ewing Brown at 2 p.m. on Thursday, at Knox Presbyterian Church, Norfolk. Memorial donations may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church.
