Thomas Jefferson Rowell, 95, of Cheriton Farms, died Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1996, in Louise Obici Hospital, Suffolk.
He was a native of Surry County, and a retired farmer. Mr. Rowell was a member of Bacon's Castle Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Surry. He was a member of Jefferson Masonic Lodge (NU)65, Surry, and Surry Ruritan Club.
Mr. Rowell was the husband of the late Kathryn Hargrave Rowell. He is survived by two daughters, Anne Taylor Rowell Barlow of Smithfield and Mary Kathryn Rowell Horner of Alexandria; sister, Sarah Rowell Johnson of Richmond; two grandchildren, Amy Elizabeth Barlow Britt of Smithfield and Todd Rowell Barlow of Smithfield.
A graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in Old Brick Church Cemetery, Bacon's Castle, with Dr. Don R. Rhoton officiating. The family will receive friends at the Surry residence, 1833 Colonial Trail East, and suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 188, Surry, Va. 23883. Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, is in charge of arrangements.
