JOHN J. POINTER

John Joseph Pointer, 78, of 406 Jack Pointer Road, died Wednesday night, Feb. 21, 1996 at Person County Memorial Hospital.

He was a native of Caswell County, N.C., the son of the late Clarence Wimbush and Willie Lea Pointer, and husband of the late Margaret Seymour Pointer. Mr. Pointer served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He held the rank of major, and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Pointer was president of the Smith Douglas Fertilizer Company and Vice President of Borden Inc., the Chemical Division. He was a former resident of Virginia Beach before retiring in Semora, N.C.

Surviving are five nephews, Jack Lea Pointer Jr., and Clarence Robert Pointer, both of Semora, Al Seymour, Sidney Seymour, and Thomas Seymour, all of Apex, N.C., three nieces, Jane Marie Pointer of Semora, Mary Jo Pointer Blevins and Susan Seymour Mills, both of Apex; three great-nephews; four great-nieces; and two great-great-nieces.

Graveside rites will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Red House Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Semora, by the Rev. Frank Garton. The family will receive friends Friday at 406 Jack Pointer Road, Semora.
