Joyce Foster Holland, 86, of the 6000 block of Partridge Drive, died Feb. 21, 1996, in a local hospital.
She was a retired bookkeeper for S & K Sales Co. in Norfolk, where she worked for 30 years. She was a native of Matthews County, Va., and the widow of Linwood Holland. She was a long-time member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Wesley Ladies Sunday school class, the United Methodist Women, and Sunshine Circle.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Holland Patterson, and her husband, Herbert, of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Lynn Patterson, and her husband, Lindsay Markus, of Chalfont, Pa., Eric Samuel Patterson, and his wife, Marisa D. Patterson of Virginia Beach; two great-grandsons, Evan Samuel Patterson and Lance Adam Patterson, both of Virginia Beach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard D. Foster and Annie Irene Miller Foster; her infant son, Garland Lynwood Holland; her brother, Aylvin R. Foster; and her sister, Eloise F. Mercer.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday by the Rev. William E. Amon and the Rev. Robert Eason in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel, today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church or to the Kempsville Rescue Squad.
