UNEMPLOYMENT SAVINGS

North Carolina Senate President Pro-Tem Marc Basnight, D-Dare, says that the Unemployment Insurance Tax reduction enacted Wednesday during a special session of the General Assembly will save businesses in Beaufort, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Hyde, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrell and Washington counties more than $2 million this year.

Estimated savings: Beaufort, $713,500; Bertie, $67,500; Camden, $60,600; Chowan, $166,200; Currituck, $76,700; Dare, $441,400; Hyde, $32,000; Pasquotank, $376,200; Perquimans, $42,200; Tyrell, $9,400; and Washington, $131,600. by CNB
