A Virginia Beach-based Navy man was killed and a companion was injured in a motorcycle accident in Spotsylvania County, state police said.
The accident occurred Sunday night on Virginia 3. State police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police said the motorcycle was headed east when it hit the rear of a car, throwing the two riders into the median. The bike crossed the median and hit another car.
The dead man was identified as Raymond C. Green, 25, of Fredericksburg. The other man on the motorcycle, Charles D. Gilkerson, was in critical condition at Fairfax Hospital. Police said they were trying to determine who was driving.
