MARY F. BAKER

Mary F. Baker, 97, of the 1800 block of Colonial Arms Circle, died Feb.22, 1996.

Mrs. Baker was born in Calabria, Italy. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Virginia Beach. She received the Masonic Lodge (NU) 274 Community Builders Award on Nov. 8, 1989. She also received the Virginia Beach Volunteer Hall of Fame Certificate of Recognition on March 14, 1989. Mrs. Baker was the oldest volunteer for Virginia Beach General Hospital, Camelot, Windermere and Hill Haven Nursing facilities.

She is survived by a daughter, Edith Denhart of Virginia Beach; a son, Robert Lee Baker of Marietta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Baker Sr., a retired lieutenant with the Chicago Fire Department. She was also preceded in death by her son, John F. Baker Jr.

A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church by Father Richard Mooney. Burial will be in Princess Anne Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 945 Virginia Beach, VA 23457. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Laskin Road Chapel, are handling arrangements.
