The Crawford Bay Crew Classic, an intercollegiate rowing regatta, will be held on the Elizabeth River March 6.
American University, Catholic University, George Mason University, Indiana University, Old Dominion University, University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and the College of William and Mary will participate in this year's event.
Qualifying heats will begin at 9 a.m. The final will begin in the afternoon. The 2,000-meter course runs from the area of Mobil Oil toward Portside. Viewing from the Seawall is free and open to the public.
An Alumni Tailgate Party will be held in the Signet Bank parking lot. Admission is $20 in advance and $30 the day of the race. Grills, food and beverages are encouraged.
Those wishing to become a Team Patron will receive a tailgate space, crew T-shirt and a listing in the race program. The fee is $50 and deadline is March 5.
