SUFFOLK CITY COUNCIL ACTIONS

City Council meetings are telecast live beginning at 7 p.m. on Municipal Access TV/Channel 13 on Falcon Cable. Telecast is repeated at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Thursday through Sunday. The work session on the fourth Wednesday is taped and aired at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. the following Thursday through Sunday.

The City Council took the following actions at its meeting Wednesday:

Ordinance amending Chapter 16, titled ``Motor Vehicles and Traffic,'' of the Code of the City of Suffolk, to provide for regional vehicle license enforcement - first reading. No vote on first reading

Consideration of an amendment to the 2005 General Plan for the area referenced as Hillpoint Farms. Tabled for six months

Consideration of a zoning ordinance amendment to repeal Section 31-650 ``Cluster Development Option'' of the city's Zoning Ordinance. Rescinded for further study

Consideration of Conditional Use Permit Request C19-95 in which the applicant is proposing to locate a single-wide mobile home on a parcel of land containing an existing single-family dwelling to house a bona fide farm tenant who will also care for the elderly parent of the property owner. Delayed vote for two weeks

Consideration of Conditional Use Permit Request C18-95 for an attached accessory apartment on property located at 4417 Kendal Court within the Chatham Woods subdivision. Approved, 7-0

Consideration of Rezoning Request R21-95 (conditional) for rezoning approximately .31 acres of land area from RR-Rural Residential (conditional) to O-I, Office Institutional (conditional) for office use for a real estate auctioneer and construction maintenance company. Approved, 7-0

G. Consideration of Rezoning Request RR-23-95 for rezoning approximately 1.72 acres of land area from M-2, Heavy Manufacturing, and approximately 16.7 acres of land area from B-2, General Business, to M-1, Light Manufacturing, within Bridgeway Commerce Park. Approved, 7-0

An ordinance accepting and appropriating a grant award of $2,965 from the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services and transferring $741 from the CIP Cable Equipment Fund for the purchase of Assistive Listening Device Equipment for the Council Chambers - second reading Approved, 7-0

An ordinance accepting and appropriating $133,000 or so much as may be received, from the Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Aviation and appropriating $67,000 General Fund designated fund balance for airport capital improvements projects - second reading. Approved, 7-0

An ordinance authorizing the submission, acceptance and appropriation of $34,584 in grant funds for the Enhancing Drug Enforcement and Prosecution grant - second reading. Approved, 7-0

An ordinance to appropriate $230,000 from Undesignated Retained Earnings of the Utility Fund for EDR electrode/membrane replacement - second reading. Approved, 7-0

An ordinance amending Section 16-3 of the Code of the City of Suffolk, which regulates the operation of trucks and carriers on certain streets in the city - second reading. Approved, 7-0

An ordinance amending Section 2-21 entitled ``Docket of Business'' of Chapter 2 of the Code of Laws of the City of Suffolk. Approved, 7-0

A resolution authorizing the City Manager to sign an agreement for regional internet connectivity among eight local jurisdictions of Hampton Roads. Approved, 7-0

Consideration of a request for a one-year extension Conditional Use Permit C27-94, which was issued by City Council on March 29, 1995, to U and A Associates for a recreational facility located within the proposed Northgate Industrial Park on the south side of Nansemond Parkway. Approved, 6-1

Establish a City Council Work Session for Wednesday, March 6 at 4 p.m. unless canceled. Approved, 7-0
