Wilson's Christine Farrell, Norcom's Kevin Coles and Western Branch's Katie MacPhail have been selected as scholarship winners by the Portsmouth Sports Club.
They will be among those honored at the Sports Club's annual Jamboree on March 6 at the Holiday Inn-Portside.
Farrell is the winner of the Bill Lewis Memorial Scholarship. She runs cross country and indoor and outdoor track at Wilson and has been a cheerleader her entire high school career.
Her singing talent has allowed her to attain All-City Chorus.
A member of the National Honor Society, Farrell plans to attend Old Dominion University to major in biology. She will pursue a career in veterinary medical research.
Coles runs track and was a member of the Norcom football team. He gained All-City honors in football and was a second-team All-Southeastern selection.
A National Honor Society member, Coles is a volunteer member of the S.H. Clarke tutoring program. His career goal is to be an engineer.
MacPhail has been a three-sport standout at Western Branch - in volleyball, soccer and basketball. She won All-Southeastern and All-Eastern Region honors in volleyball and in soccer. During the fall season she received the Sports Club's most outstanding female high school athlete award.
