Ollie Matheny Ackers, 85, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 1996.
Mrs. Akers was born Oct. 23, 1910, in Covington, Va., a daughter of the late Sam Frank and Ada Songer Matheny.
She is survived by her daughter with whom she had made her home for the past three-and-a-half years, Mrs. John (Sarah) Nehring of Virginia Beach; two grandchildren, Allison Nehring and Bob Nehring, both of Virginia Beach; two sisters, Mrs. Isabelle Fisher of Hot Springs and Mrs. Ruth Roach of Covington; and also by two nieces and two nephews.
The funeral will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Covington with the Rev. James A. Rohne officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Covington. The family suggest that donations in Mrs. Akers' name be made to the M.E. Cox Adult Day Care Center, 644 North Lynnhaven Road, Virginia Beach, 23452.
