Mildred Bridges Mabry, 76, died Feb. 25, 1996, at her residence.
Mrs. Mabry, a native of Bland, Va., attended First Baptist Church of Norfolk. As the founder and director of Colonial Day School for nearly two decades, Mrs. Mabry was able to fulfill her dream of providing quality early childhood education to the children of our community.
She was predeceased by her parents, James Wesley Bridges and Laura Hainer Bridges, and six brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Charles Mabry; and a son, Edward Mabry, both of Norfolk; two sisters, Marie Cox and Opal Fadler; and one brother, Roy Wayne Bridges, all of Bland, Va.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, at Christ Lutheran Church by the Rev. Richard Baker of First Baptist Church and Pastor Arthur Meyer. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church social hall following the service. A time of prayer and private burial will take place prior to the memorial service. A visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Norfolk Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Greenbrier Building Fund, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk, Va., 23502 or to the Dr. William Hoskins Research Fund, Office of Development, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Institute, Box E, 1275 York Avenue, New York City, N.Y., 10021.
