Cpt. Brooks W. Setzer Jr., U.S.N. (Ret.), 73, of the 1200 block of Spindrift Rd., died Feb. 23, 1996, in Virginia Beach.
Capt. Setzer was born in Raleigh, N.C., on Nov. 12, 1922. Capt. Setzer was a veteran of World War II and the Vietnam War and retired from the Navy after 30 years of active duty. He is a holder of the Bronze Star, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and numerous other metals and commendations.
Brooks, predeceased by Dale, his beloved wife of 36 years, is survived by his four children, Elizabeth Happel of Phoenix, Ariz., Brooks Setzer III of Seattle, Wash., Christopher Setzer of Key West, Fla., and Andrew Setzer of Virginia Beach; and his four grandchildren, Danielle Setzer, Sarah Setzer, Hollis Setzer and Graydon Happel.
A memorial service will be held at Bayside Christian Church, 2224 Greenwell Road, Virginia Beach, Va., on Wednesday at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Navy Relief, 7920 Hampton Blvd., Norfolk, 23505-1299 or the charity of your choice.
