EDWARD G. DAY JR.

Edward G. Day Jr., 70, of the 100 block of Waterfield Ave., died Monday, Feb. 26, 1996, at his residence.

Mr. Day was born in Portsmouth and was the son of the late Edward G. Day Sr. and Nellie Leafe Day. He retired for the Chesapeake Redevelopment and Housing Authority as an inspector and from Sears Roebuck Co. as an installation coordinator. He was a former chairman of the Chesapeake Minimum Housing Board. He was a member of Raleigh Heights Baptist Church and sang in the Chancel Choir and Hallelujah Singers. He was a member of Dismal Swamp Boys Gospel Singers. He was a member of South Norfolk Masonic Lodge (NU)339, Scottish Rite Bodies for 30 years. Mr. Day received his associates degree from William and Mary College. He was a United State Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Pillar Day; daughter, Dana Day Stevens of Chesapeake; son, Tiger Day and his wife, Diane of Virginia Bech; sister, Lillie Esposito of Hiawassee, Ga.; brother, Robert C. Day of Chesapeake; five grandchildren, Kelly Stevens, Katie Stevens, Rusty Yerkes, Corey Yerkes, and Nichole Day.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge, by the Rev. Penny Wilson and the Rev. Henry Napier. Interment will be in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.
