Geneva Barrett Smith, of the 500 block of E. Liberty St., a retired university housekeeper, died Feb. 24, 1996, in her home.
Mrs. Smith was born in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake and was the widow of Douglas C. Smith Jr. She was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey Jean Smith; her mother, Daisy Knight, and her father, John Knight. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two daughters, Glena Blount and Nadine Rountree, both of Virginia Beach; two sons, Douglas Smith of Roanoke and Neno Smith of Norfolk; two sisters, Irma Claggion of Portsmouth and Edna Banks of New York; seven grandchildren; three special nieces, Sallie Mayfield and Gloria Hendrick, both of Norfolk, and Pamela Stubb of Greenville, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be conducted at noon, Wednesday in the Metropolitan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Lassiter officiating. Burial will be in Hampton National Cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 916 Sunnyside Drive, Virginia Beach, at 11 a.m. Wednesday for the funeral procession to the chapel.
