VERA C. KEMP

Vera Clendenning Kemp, 89, of Mount Pleasant Road, devoted and beloved wife, mother and grandmother, went home to her heavenly Father on Feb. 26, 1996.

Mrs. Kemp was born in Old Norfolk County and was a lifelong resident of Chesapeake. She was the daughter of the late Arthur W. and Malinda Swartz Clendenning and the widow of the late Roy L. Kemp. She was a member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church in Chesapeake.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Ellen K. Nelson and Rodney A. Nelson Sr. of Suffolk; her four grandchildren, Linda N. Joyner and her husband, Elliott M. Joyner of Suffolk, Rodney A. Nelson Jr. and his wife, Linda H. Nelson of Reisterstown, Md., Susan C. Nelson of Seattle and Glen K. Nelson and his wife, Terry J. Nelson of Annapolis, Md.; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; her sister, Blanche Lile of Royal Oak, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge by the Rev. Robert Sowder. Burial will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at 1100 Rodney Lane, Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
