George E. ``Eddie'' Schaefer, 80, died Feb. 25, 1996.
He was preceded in death by his son, George E. ``Eddie'' Schaefer Jr. Mr. Schaefer retired from CSX Railroad after 42 years and was a veteran of World War II for 5 years serving in the Army Signal Corp and the Army Corps of Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Schaefer; daughters, Elizabeth S. Welch and Peggy S. Holt; grandchildren, Christopher F. Welch and Leslie Blair Holt and his sister, Ruth Schaefer Hitch of Norfolk.
A graveside service will be held at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Forest, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Project Open Hand, 1080-R Euclid Ave. Northwest, Atlanta, Ga. 30307.
