John Howard Ayers Baker, 81, died Feb. 25, 1996, in Norfolk.
He was born in Allegheny County, Md., and was the widower of Lillian D. Baker. He was former owner of Nottingham Hauling Company and he was a Catholic.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Alice Godwin of Las Vegas, Nev.; five great-grandchildren, Michael Dameron of Greensboro, N.C., Cheryl Spencer of Chesapeake, Joanne Pellettere of Las Vegas, John Riddick and Catherine Riddick, both of Chesapeake; five great-great grandchildren; an aunt, Alice Dupuis of Norfolk; three uncles, Eugene Baker of Ohio, Anthony T. Baker and Francis E. Baker of Lakewood, Calif.
A gradeside service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. by Father Joseph P. Lehman in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, today from 7 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association.
