Paul Anthony Bernard Sr., 37, of the 1400 block of Tatemstown Road, died Feb. 24, 1996, in Norfolk.
He was employed by NORSHIPCO and was a former member of the Boilermakers Union. Mr. Bernard was a 1976 graduate of Indian River High School and was a former pit crew member with Moen Racing. He was a native of Cambridge, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya Sue Bernard; three sons, Paul Anthony Bernard Jr., Christopher B. Bernard and Nathiel W. ``Nate'' Bernard, all of Chesapeake; two sisters, Denise B. Spaniard and Laura D. Foster, both of Chesapeake; one brother, William E. Bernard Jr. of Richmond; grandmother, Martha Fleming of Cambridge, Ohio; and several aunts and uncles.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Daniel G. Spaugh in Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Indian River Chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Bernard Children Fund c/o any Commerce Bank location.
