Thelma Elizabeth Powell, 86, of the 2300 block of Ferndale Road, died Feb. 27, 1996, in a Portsmouth hospital.
Mrs. Powell, a native of Goldsboro, N.C., was the widow of Andrew James Powell. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Chesapeake.
Survivors include four daughters, Bobbie Aydlette of Chesapeake, Louise Coleman of Portsmouth, Joyce Spencer of Indianapolis, Kay Shields of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Effie Massey of Burlington, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Lucille Fisher.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Billy Lewis. Entombment will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
