RAYMOND JOHNSON

Raymond Johnson died Feb. 24, 1996 in a local hospital.

He was the widower of Barbara D. Johnson and was born in Isle of Wight Co. He attended William and Mary on an athletic scholarship and later joined the Navy. Mr. Johnson was a World War II veteran and was a retired civil service employee. He was a member of Talbot Park Baptist Church; Ruth Masonic Lodge 89; Norfolk Scottish Rite Bodies-Khedive Temple; Fleet Reserve Branch 60; Kiwanis International; and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by a son, Edwin S. Johnson of Norfolk; two sisters, Olive J. Gourley of Franklin and Ida J. Dixon of Isle of Wight; and three grandchildren, Lynne, Barry and Bonny, all of Norfolk.

A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel with Dr. Harry T. Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Talbot Park Baptist Church.

He was a good father and grandfather. He will always be with us in spirit.
