GERALD V. VAN TIEM

Gerald V. Van Tiem, 73, of the 8000 block of Walters Drive, died Feb. 26, 1996, in a local hospital.

Mr. Van Tiem was the son of the late Vincent P. Van Tiem and Josephine F. Weitzel Van Tiem. He was a veteran of World War II. He retired from the Naval Reserves and from the Naval Air Rework Facility (N.A.R.F.) in 1975. He was preceded in death by his infant son, David G. Van Tiem. He was a Roman Catholic. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch (NU)5.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Audrey Thompson Van Tiem; four sons, Gerald V. of Norfolk, Thomas F. of Dumfries, Va., Pat G. of Atlanta, and Michael G. of Norfolk; three grandchildren, Gregory S. Van Tiem, Shawn P. Van Tiem, and Jennifer M. Van Tiem; and a sister, Shirley A. Dulzo of Farmington Hills, Mich.

A chapel service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, 1996, at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, by the Rev. Patrick Doody. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held in the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, at 6:30 p.m., today. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Infant Home, 317 Chapel St., Norfolk, 23510.
