RALEIGH L. BENTHALL

Raleigh L. ``Neil'' Benthall, 73, of the 2300 block of Columbus Ave., died Feb. 26, 1996 in Manning Convalescent Home.

He retired after 50 years as a cement mason. He was formerly married to Ruth Benthall for 30 years. He was a member of The New First Baptist Church Taylorsville.

He is survived by two daughters, Evelyn J. Southall and Linda Whitfield, both of Portsmouth; a son, Raleigh L. Benthall Jr. of Portsmouth; two sisters Mollie White of Portsmouth, Mable Riddick of Chesapeake; a brother Sgt. Bruce Benthall of Columbus, Ga.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a very special and devoted friend, Ann Jennings.

A funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m at New First Baptist Church Taylorsville, the Rev. T. Melvin Steele presiding. Place of burial will be Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. The family will assemble at Rogers Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Thursday. There will be a wake at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
